Facial Recognition Applications
Today’s police forces make extensive use of facial images in addition to fingerprint, DNA and other long established forensic techniques. Standardised facial imaging and facial biometrics are becoming an increasingly important part of the police tool-kit. The UK police forces’ Facial Images National Database (FIND) initiative is one example.
Originally developed with the help and co-operation of the UK National Policing Improvement Agency (NPIA) and proven in field tests by local British police forces, OmniPerception’s FIND friendly AFIT™ range is now helping to deliver effective facial imaging solutions for the criminal justice community in the following applications:
Right-first-time custody imaging is a key element in the smooth and cost-effective operation of a busy custody suite. AFIT.QA™ software, as incorporated in the “DIB” Digital Image Booth from DW Group Ltd, is the gold standard for FIND compliant right-first-time custody suite imaging; purpose built for the modern police force.
AFIT.ID™ software is an efficient tool for rapid identity checking in police face image databases - stand alone, or as integrated into DW Group’s Digital Image Recognition unit (DIR). AFIT.ID™ allows police forces to achieve rapid accurate searches of face databases, in custody suite applications and in investigative work.
Colossus™ takes over where AFIT.ID™ leaves off, providing unprecedented speed and accuracy at multi-million scale. A target or suspect face is loaded into Colossus™ and the system then searches through many millions of faces in the database to find and match the target face, typically in less than three seconds. Especially designed for very large systems, Colossus™ is ideal for searches on large police databases, at regional, national and international level; as well as for national passport, driving licence and identity card applications.
